Good god, Calgary is the WORST city the G7 meeting could happen in. 

If there's one major city in Canada where Trump can expect to have his ego boosted with a show of support for his "Annex Canada" comments, it's definitely Calgary.

The ability of the rest of the G7 to show solidarity with Canada at this meeting, in person, will be vital diplomatically in forcing Trump to back down.  Although G7 events are expensive, the benefits from hosting it and having our allies vocally support us far outweighs any negatives.  Not hosting would be a mistake as it just makes us look weak.
